Jimena and Federico met in early 2012. She was working as a product manager at HP. He had just resigned as CEO of a retail public company to start a Hi Ventures, fromerly ALLVP. They instantly clicked.

Federico introduced Jimena to one of his students who was thinking of starting a mobility company and needed a co-founder. A few weeks later, they started Carrot and the newly formed VC wrote its first ever check. Jimena was the first entrepreneur to trust Federico with her vision. In many ways, they started the firm together. Federico joined Carrot’s board and supported the team from 0 to the end. It was a wild ride with great successes and big challenges, an entrepreneurial adventure that would turn into a lasting friendship.

Federico continued scaling the firm. It backed some of the most emblematic startups in Latin America. Cornershop was one of them. Jimena joined Facebook to lead product growth. While traveling the region, she stayed involved with the entrepreneurial community and started investing as an angel. In 2022, ten years after they had first challenged each other to reach new peaks, Jimena returned home to continue her work helping change the region for the better, now, as an investor.
